The Toms River Student Loan Fund dates back to 1937 when Dr. Edgar M. Fink, Supervising Principal, prevailed upon a group of local business leaders to assist graduates of the high school who planned to further their education. The Toms River Student Loan Fund was founded as a nonprofit corporation and solicited contributions from community businesses and residents.
From this small beginning, the Toms River Student Loan Fund has grown to serve over 1,000 students. In the spirit of "helping thy neighbor," the Toms River community has, for many years, generously supported our fundraising activities. Each year the Fund hosts a fundraiser that honors a community leader for their contribution to the Toms River community and teachers who have been recognized as outstanding in their profession.
The success of the Toms River Student Loan Fund is based on pride. The community has pride in the graduates of its school system and wishes to assist those in need of financial help. The trustees have pride in the students and in the work it does to assist our students. Most of all, the students have pride in themselves and the community which helps them achieve their education goals.
